| 30th September 2005 Press release from the Management Committee of the Newchurch Parish Sports & Community Association "After 21 years of successful Garlic Festivals and having achieved their major fund raising aims, the Management Committee of the Newchurch Parish Sports & Community Association have decided not to hold any further Garlic Festivals. Throughout this time the festival has been organised by a succession of extremely hard working and dedicated volunteers. A Sports Pavilion, sports field, dual use Community Hall, recreation ground and numerous grants to Parish Organisations are testament to their success. The ethos of the festival has always been to provide a value for money family fun day out whilst promoting Island produce, products and businesses and providing a vehicle for local and national charities to raise much needed funds. The Association would like to thank EVERYONE for all their support over the years." |
