Tower House, Ventnor, Isle of Wight

Tower House is a large Victorian Marine Residence built in the mid-eighteen hundreds and is situated in an elevated position overlooking the picturesque town of Ventnor. It is set in a quiet location and commands splendid sea views.

The house is so called because of the tower on top, which was designed to look far out to sea, enabling the lady of the house to watch out for her sea faring husband returning from a long sea voyage. This tower was also referred to as 'the widows walk'. There is a decked area here, surrounded by arrow headed Victorian railings, making it very safe for those opting for the self catering apartments to sit out and take in the breathtaking views.

As two thirds of the Tower House is built into the undercliff, Apartments 1 & 2 (being located at the top of the house) are at garden level. They are completely self-contained, each with its own entrance. Having their own secluded decking area, guests can sit outside to eat al-fresco or enjoy a relaxing evening with a bottle of wine, whilst listening to the sea and the crickets.

Apartment 3 is situated at the side of the house via external steps. This Apartment has it's own very pretty patio with wonderful sea views.

Many places of interest and local cottage industries can be found in Ventnor and the surrounding area, which include glass blowing, our very own Ventnor Brewery, Rare Breeds Sanctuary and the wonderful Botanical Gardens which is just a walk away from the Tower House. The town has numerous interesting bric-a-brac and antique shops.

The safe sand and fine shingle beach, minutes walking distance from the house is set in a picturesque cove with café's and bars. By the summer of 2003 we shall boast our very own marina, the 'Ventnor Haven'. Along with additional features to compliment the Haven, we will enjoy watching the visiting yachts and fishing boats.

There are several restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance offering a wide variety of food.

There are many beautiful walks in the area, including Ventnor and St Boniface Downs with their spectacular views.
