Ventnor Esplanade

Ventnor, known as the sunniest part of the Isle of Wight, lies to the south of the Island. The town was first built as a health Spa by the Victorians and is built on a series of terraces beneath St Boniface down, one of the highest points of the Island. The Town has a wealth of unusual Victorian architecture with tall town houses and terraced gardens. 

Ventnor offers a good selection of shops both regular 'high street' as well as many 'old worlde' antique and bric-a-brac shops. There are also many cafes and restaurants, some serving specialty local fish menus all with a friendly atmosphere. The Esplanade boasts some fine beaches with a mixture of sand and fine shingles to give good swimming and sunbathing. The Esplanade also benefits from a new ##### from which you can relax in the shade and look across the bay or at the flowered walls of the 'Cascades'  

To the East of Ventnor lies the small village of Bonchurch, with it's idyllic row of cottages and small businesses overlooking  the village pond, it boasts one of the oldest churches in the south of England, built in 1070 AD measuring just 48ft x 12ft.To the West of Ventnor, lies the Ventnor Botanical Gardens, a sub-tropic paradise with 100 year old palm trees and a temparate house, containing many species of tropical plants.
