The Isle of Wight is served by three different ferry operators:-


WIGHTlink
provide car ferries from 
Lymington to Yarmouth and from 
Portsmouth to Fishbourne. 
They also operate a passenger service 
from Portsmouth to Ryde.




Red Funnel
provide a vehicle ferry service between Southampton & East Cowes and a Hi-Speed passenger service linking Southampton & Cowes.






Hovertravel provide a hovercraft passenger service from Southsea to Ryde.

    Trains  
The Island Rail system runs from Ryde Pier to Shanklin via Havenstreet, Brading and Sandown. Connection with the High Speed ferry to Portsmouth can be made from all stations on the Island.

    Buses  
Southern Vectis operate regular bus services throughout the Island connecting all of the major resorts and villages.

Island Rover tickets can be bought for unlimited travel.

    Roads  
Standard UK Driving rules and regulations apply when driving on the Island. There are no motorways / freeways on the Island.

Speed limits are strictly enforced on the Island with regular Police speed traps and cameras in operation.
Speed Limits are as follows

60 MPH national
40 MPH suburban
30 MPH in-town
20 MPH Brading High Street
Shanklin Old Village

Car hire is also available on the Island.
Esplanade Car Hire is close to Ryde Pier and Hovercraft Terminal
Petrol is readily available on the Island.
There is a 24-hour Garage
located at Tesco in Ryde.
