Viewpoint Car Parks and Picnic Sites



Brading and Nunwell Downs
GR: SZ 597869. West off A3085 at Yarbridge traffic lights, south of Brading.
Public Open Space with fine views of coast and country.

Culver Down (National Trust)
GR: SZ 637855. Car parks on the headland, extensive turf area adjoining for picnics.
Gun emplacement sites of old fort.
Warning - Keep children away from unfenced cliff edge.
Refreshments nearby.

St Boniface Down (National Trust)
GR: SZ 574786. Viewpoint car parks at the Island' s highest point.
Continue on via cattle grid and passing radar station to main car park
with coast and country views. Picnic on the turf.
Warning - Please do not feed the ponies and goats.

Blackgang Viewpoint Car Park
GR: SZ 509767.
Large car park with adjoining picnic area with tables and benches.
Walks on clifftop and on to St Catherine's Down opposite.

Brighstone and Westover Downs
(National Trust and Forestry Commission)
GR: SZ 421846. Car park
on brow of hill to left of tree line. Turf walk to Westover Down, passing
tumuli with fine views across the Island. Grassy areas for picnics.
Also paths through forest or down to the Longstone.
