4 mile circular walk around the estuary of the Western Yar Afton Marsh Nature Trail
2 mile trail around the nature reserve at Freshwater .
Medina Estuary Circular Walk
2.5 miles, starting from the car park and picnic site beyond Riverway Industrial Estate at Newport.
Freshwater Way
3.5 mile walk along the Western Yar, following the route of the old railway track.

Cycleways
Newport to Cowes Cycleway
From the Medina Riverside Park in Newport GR: SZ 903502 to
Arctic Road, Cowes, near floating bridge to East Cowes (3 miles).
Shide to Blackwater Cycleway
The cycleway starts across the road from the Barley Mow Public House at Shide on the southern edge of Newport. It runs for just over a mile along the western bank of the upper reaches of the River Medina and rejoins the main road to Shanklin near to Blackwater Service Station.
Yarmouth to Freshwater Cycleway
Starts from the River Road Car Park, Yarmouth and emerges at the tidal reach
of the estuary at the Causeway, Freshwater
(2 miles).
