Forest Walks and Activities



Forest Enterprise produces free leaflets showing forest walks.
A full programme of guided walks and other events and activities in the forest
is available on request.

NB: Bicycles must only be ridden on forest roads and bridleways.

Parkhurst Forest
Main car park GR: SZ 480900. Located on the north side of A3054 road from Newport towards Yarmouth. Here is an ideal place to spot red squirrels and on warm summer evenings hear nightjars. Also in this location: carriage rides, picnic and barbecue site, orienteering course and horse route (by permit only).

Brighstone Forest
GR: SZ421848. Also orienteering route. Part of the walk is on National Trust property and along the Tennyson Trail. Starts at National Trust's Jubilee Car Park on Brighstone to Calbourne road.

Firestone Copse
GR: SZ 558910. Blue Trail is wheelchair accessible. Access either from Havenstreet (take the turning at the northern end of the village) or turn off the A3054 on eastern side of Wootton Creek at the bottom of Kite Hill.

Bouldnor Forest
GR: SZ 378898. Woodland and coastal path. Nearest car park is on A3054 east of Yarmouth. Viewpoints and benches overlooking the Solent.

Wayfaring leaflets and details of orienteering events for Parkhurst Forest, Firestone Copse and Brighstone Forest are available from Tourist Information Centres.
